An abbreviation of 'radical'--a term made popular by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Still primarily used by people who find words like 'cool', 'awesome', and 'tight' to be tired and overused;
'rad' is generally considered to be a much higher praise than the aforementioned superlatives.
Also used as a general expression of awe.
"Those are some rad shoes."
"Oh, RAD."
Definition by the urban dictionary
Apparently this guy is "RAD"

Our common point of view on quality and the continued research of changes have made us work together with excitement for this fresh and special project.

This chunky compendium is a dungeonful of metal overload, complete with leather- and spandex-panted, huge-haired rockers, drooling beasts, and plenty of skulls. Charting a visual course of the genre,Heavy Metal Thunder shows the best album art from its youthful incarnation in the late '70s through the MTV era, when glam and hair metal ruled; to the punk-inflected revolutions of thrash and Nu Metal (with a grunge side trip); to the gory contemporary genres of grindcore, black metal, and doom. Page after page of aggressive and excessive album graphics makes this the perfect gift for both current metalheads and nostalgic (if embarrassed), thirty-and forty-somethings with headbanging memories.
James Sherry and Neil Aldis have both written about rock music for Metal Hammer,Indiecator, and Rock World as well as numerous other magazines. They live in London.

Continuing to pay homage to icons of the skateboarding scene, Vans’ latest models from their Syndicate line is inspired by the late Skate pioneer, Andy Kessler. Set to drop in next few weeks, the Old Skool and SK8-Hi Syndicates sport the same black/white colorway, complete with electric blue laces. The traditional branded heel tag has been replaced with a New York City Skateboarding logo. Finally, the insole features an “AK” symbol, representing of course, Andy Kessler.
