We were so lucky to use Luja Murfi’s music as the
soundtrack, and they even played live at our movie
premiere at Stone & Wood. With 350+ people
showing up, beers flowing and the whole place
buzzing, it felt like the perfect way to share
Untamed with my community here in
Byron and bring the whole project to life.

Untamed is a cinematic journey surfing along New Zealand’s raw coastline. We filmed it last April after I was invited to compete in the Single Fin Mingle longboard competition in Sumner, and we only had 2.5 days to capture the whole film. We were actually shooting our last shots on the way to the airport, almost missing our flight home! It was freezing but we scored some seriously fun waves, and the whole experience felt so wild and special. We found empty lineups, dreamy snowy mountain tops and seals everywhere. I wanted to capture the beauty of these coastlines and show how raw, wild and untamed they are, hopefully inspiring people to keep caring for them.
