Create Not Destroy x Holly TudorFor our latest Create Not Destroy collaboration, we teamed up with Melbourne-based illustrator and designer Holly Tudor, the artist behind Is This Real Life. Bringing together her playful, nostalgic approach to illustration with the Create Not Destroy concept, the collection is filled with pieces that feel personal to Holly’s creative world.

A number of the tees take inspiration from designs Holly was creating from her bedroom back in 2020, while the socks are a nod to her earlier work making limited-run embroidered socks. Her visual language draws from all over - retro cartoons, VHS, museums, ancient and folk art, and anything decorative, naive or a little strange. When something sparks an idea, she gets it down in her sketchbook straight away.

At the heart of Holly’s work is a sense of curiosity and imagination. Growing up, she and her siblings were obsessed with The Phantom Tollbooth, which helped shape her love for surreal, dreamy worlds and characters that feel timeless, silly, sarcastic and slightly out of place.

The collaboration also reflects the idea behind Create Not Destroy itself. As Holly puts it, “There’s a lot of destroy happening in the world,” making it even more important to create things that are silly, humorous and relatable. Her illustrations offer small snapshots of humanity - simple moments and ideas that we can all recognise, connect with and find a bit of joy in.
