It was just a regular Wednesday. No trips planned, no waves on the horizon—until a phone call turned everything around. I was at work, when Sol hit me up in full panic mode. He’d just caught wind of a monster swell heading straight for Indonesia, and a spot had opened up on the legendaryMangalui. Two days later, I was on a plane, racing to catch what was promised to be one of the most epic trips of my life.

People always talk about the Mentawai Islands and how incredible they are, but nothing prepares you for seeing them in their full glory. With solid swell rolling through, the Ments were everything they were cracked up to be—and then some. I’ve surfed some amazing spots in my time, but nothing compares to the waves I witnessed there. I’ll say it now: the Mentawai waves were, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever seen.

I remember one morning arriving at Greenbush, a wave I’d only ever dreamed of surfing, was an experience that blew my mind. From a distance, it looked like the perfect 4-foot cone you’d ever seen. But that was before we paddled out and realized that we were staring at 6-8 foot caves. Watching the boys tackle XL Bush was nothing short of jaw-dropping. Insane waves, unreal fishing, and a crew of mates to share it all with. Twelve days of solid action, good times, and memories that’ll last a lifetime.

The moment I landed back from the Ments, I was already itching to return to Indonesia. The swell season was winding down, and I knew I couldn’t miss out. So, Gian and I booked another trip, this time to West Sumbawa—a place I’d always seen in clips of growing up. And man, it didnotdisappoint. Yoyo’s was like an endless skatepark, a wave I could surf and never get sick off.

Luckily for me, both trips were documented in full, and what started as an unforgettable adventure has now turned into a clip. Hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed living it. Big Love
